With August approaching and vegetation becoming increasingly dry, fire agencies across the San Bernardino Mountains are continuing to remind residents and visitors that wildfire danger remains elevated.

Officials are encouraging everyone to do their part by avoiding activities that could spark a fire, properly disposing of cigarettes, keeping vehicles off dry grass, and staying informed about current fire restrictions. Summer storms can also bring gusty winds and dry lightning, creating additional wildfire concerns during the hottest part of the season.

Local agencies continue to encourage residents to maintain defensible space around their homes and review evacuation plans before an emergency occurs.

Summer is one of the best times to enjoy everything our mountain communities have to offer—but it’s also when we all share the responsibility of protecting them. A little extra awareness goes a long way toward keeping the mountain safe.
