This Week on The Mountain April 2-5

Happy Easter neighbor!

We’re officially into spring on the mountain with longer days, more people out and about, and a steady pickup in local events heading into April.

Also new this week: I’m starting to build out a Mountain Events Calendar you can subscribe to (more below). The goal is simple — make it easier to actually know what’s going on up here.

Let’s get into it.

🌤 Weather

A mild and mostly sunny stretch ahead across the mountain communities.

Thursday (Apr 2)
High: 60° | Low: 41°
Partly sunny, cool morning.

Friday (Apr 3)
High: 62° | Low: 42°
Clear and comfortable.

Warmest day of the week — great for getting outside.

Mostly sunny with light afternoon breeze.

Overall: classic spring conditions — cool mornings, warm afternoons.

☕ Business Spotlight

Spade & Spatula — Blue Jay

If you’re looking for something a little different on the mountain, Spade & Spatula is worth a stop.

This gastropub blends fresh food with a curated selection of local and unique goods. It’s the kind of place you can grab a quality lunch or breakfast or swing by for a craft beer or cocktail.

It’s also become a bit of a go-to in Blue Jay for people who want something beyond the typical mountain diner experience.

Good food, thoughtful setup, and a spot that feels a little elevated while still being local.

📰 Mountain News

Crestline Jamboree Days Parade Registration Now Open

The Crestline Chamber of Commerce has officially opened registration for the 2026 Jamboree Days Parade, one of the mountain’s biggest annual events.

Held each summer around the 4th of July, the parade is a long-standing tradition that brings together local businesses, organizations, and residents for a full day of community celebration.

Participants typically include:
• Local businesses and nonprofits
• Decorated floats
• Classic cars and community groups
• Performers and local organizations

Registration opening this early gives groups plenty of time to plan and participate, and organizers are encouraging anyone interested to sign up early.

For many on the mountain, Jamboree Days is a highlight of the year — and this is the first step in getting involved for 2026.

🏔 Mountain Question of the Week

Last week we posed the question - What’s your favorite easy hike on the mountain?

We received a lot of great recommendations. I encourage you to enjoy this beautiful spring weather and get out to enjoy one of these hikes:

That’s it for this week.

That wraps up this week’s Mountain Weekly!

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy putting this together each week and hearing the feedback from the readers. I truly hope this simple newsletter helps you feel more connected to this beautiful mountain community!

If you enjoyed this, consider forwarding it to a neighbor or friend who lives (or plays) on the mountain.

And remember — this newsletter is for the community.
Reply anytime with tips, photos, events, or updates you think others would appreciate.

See you up the hill,
