This Week on The Mountain
Hey neighbor! Here’s a rundown for this weeks issue
Happy mid-February mountain neighbors!
Here’s your local rundown for Thursday through Sunday (Feb 12–15) across Running Springs, Arrowbear, Green Valley Lake, Lake Arrowhead, Twin Peaks & Crestline.
🌦️ Mountain Weather Snapshot
We’re looking at a milder and mostly dry stretch this weekend with typical February mountain temperatures.
• Thursday & Friday: Highs mostly in the 40s–50s, lows dipping into the 30s overnight. Skies should be mostly cloudy to partly sunny with just a light chance of sprinkles or brief showers in the afternoons. ()
• Saturday & Sunday: Cloud cover increases and there’s a small chance of light rain or mountain snow showers later Sunday, but nothing major is forecast at this point. ()
🌨️Looking Ahead: Winter Weather Making a Comeback
After a mild stretch, winter weather is expected to return next week across the mountain. Forecasts show cooler temperatures and increasing chances of rain and snow, especially mid- to late week.
It doesn’t look like a major storm yet, but the pattern is shifting back to more typical February mountain conditions. Keep an eye on forecasts if you’re traveling or planning outdoor time.

🍪 Business of the Week: The Sugar Chalet
Nestled right in Running Springs is a place that feels like home-made happiness — The Sugar Chalet. This family-owned bakery was first born out of a passion for baking back in 2021, and in 2023 the owners opened their charming brick-and-mortar shop at 31988 Hilltop Blvd, serving locals and visitors alike.
What makes The Sugar Chalet special isn’t just the sweets — it’s the whole mountain experience. You’ll find fresh baked goods, and a rotating selection of confections that change with the season. The menu often varies daily, so every visit can be a delightful surprise.
They also take custom orders for special occasions — from birthdays to celebrations big and small — so if you’re planning something sweet, this is a spot worth checking out. Just give them a couple weeks notice so they can bring your ideas to life.
Whether you’re stopping by after a hike or just popping in for a treat with your morning coffee, The Sugar Chalet is a cozy mountain gem you’ll want to put on your list.
📍 31988 Hilltop Blvd, Running Springs
☎️ (909) 295-3447
📅 Typically open Friday–Sunday, 10 AM–5 PM (check their site before you go).
🏔️ Mountain News This Week
📣 Local Snow Drought & Weather Patterns
Snowpack in many mountain areas remains lower than typical for mid-February, meaning fewer multi-inch storm events so far this winter. California weather experts note that while storms have just grazed Southern California mountains, the larger pattern has been mostly dry compared with historic averages this month. There’s a chance this changes later in the month, but for now the forecast looks more cool and cloudy than snowy around the San Bernardino Mountains.
This is good news for weekend travel plans, but it’s also a reminder that snow levels and snowpack conditions can vary rapidly — always check trail and road conditions before heading up.
That’s it for this week.
