Hey neighbor! I don’t know about you, but I feel like we got a whole winter in one week this week! 🌲

Here’s your local update for Thursday through Sunday (Feb 19–22) across the mountain.

🌨️ Mountain Weather Snapshot

We just came through one of the strongest winter storms of the season, with snow piling up across the mountain earlier this week and chain control on both Hwy-18 and Hwy-330 during the heavy snow period.

Looking ahead to Feb 19–22, the storm pattern eases a bit:
Thursday — lingering snow showers and cold temps at elevation with more snow possible before midday.
Friday through Sunday — skies are expected to trend drier and partly cloudy, though temperatures remain typical winter mountain cool.

Even as it dries out, snowpack and icy spots remain on trails and roads, especially early mornings and shaded turns — so if you’re heading out, keep chains handy and plan for wintry conditions.

❄️ Snow Resorts Update — Fresh Powder!

Recent reports show up to 12–15 inches of new snow over a short period at all three resorts (Snow Valley, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain) as the storm moved through, with snow levels dropping closer to 3,000 ft in parts of the region — making it feel more like the heart of winter on the slopes. All told, this storm delivered just the kind of fresh snow many locals and visitors have been waiting for, especially after a relatively quiet early season — and it should make for better conditions on the mountain as the weekend hits.

❤️ Support Local After the Storm

After a week of heavy weather and snowy roads, many of our local small restaurants and cafés felt the impact — from slower foot traffic to temporary closures and staffing challenges.

Mountain businesses don’t have the cushion of big chains. A few missed days during a storm can really add up.

If you’re able this week, consider:

• Grabbing coffee from your favorite local café
• Ordering takeout instead of cooking one night
• Leaving a positive review online
• Tipping a little extra if you can
• Sharing a shout-out to a spot you love

Supporting small businesses keeps our mountain community strong year-round — especially during winter weeks like this one.

Let’s show up for the places that show up for us. 💙

🛣️ Mountain News: 210 Freeway Waterman Ave Offramp Construction

A major project that affects many mountain commuters is underway in the City of San Bernardino — the SR-210 Freeway offramp at Waterman Avenue is under construction, with work scheduled from February through October this year.

The project aims to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at this busy junction by widening ramps and reworking lanes, which could eventually make travel smoother for locals heading to and from the mountains. For now, expect possible changes in ramp access, lane shifts, and some delays, especially around peak travel times.

That’s it for this week.

If you’re out and about this weekend — weather permitting — send a photo along and I’ll feature it next issue. 🌨️📸
