This Week on The Mountain May 28-31

Hey neighbor!

A lot of weekends on the mountain feel busy. This one feels like summer officially showed up.

The lakes are getting crowded again, patio season is fully back, and every community from Crestline to Green Valley Lake seems to have something happening. You can feel the shift this time of year with longer nights, more visitors, and locals starting to spend more time outside again.

Whether you’re looking for live music, markets, family events, or just an excuse to grab coffee and walk around the Village, this weekend has a little bit of everything.

Let’s get into it.

🌤 Weather

A late-season cold system is moving through the mountains this week, bringing much cooler temperatures, gusty winds, and even the possibility of light snow at the higher elevations overnight.

Most mountain communities should mainly see cold rain showers and cloudy conditions, while areas above roughly 6,500–7,000 feet could briefly see a rain/snow mix late Wednesday into Thursday morning.

Thursday (May 28)
High: 54° | Low: 31°
Cloudy and chilly with scattered morning showers.

Friday (May 29)
High: 59° | Low: 34°
Improving conditions with clouds clearing through the day.

Saturday (May 30)
High: 69° | Low: 43°
Finally warming back up with sunshine returning.

Sunday (May 31)
High: 76° | Low: 48°
Sunny and much more like a normal late-May mountain weekend.

Mountain take:
This weekend starts feeling more like March than May — but conditions improve quickly by Saturday afternoon. If you’re heading out early in the weekend, pack layers and expect cold evenings.

☕ Business Spotlight - Higher Grounds Coffee House

Some mountain businesses become local staples because they simply get the atmosphere right, and Higher Grounds Coffee House is one of those places.

Located in Crestline, Higher Grounds has become a popular stop for locals looking for:
• Quality coffee drinks
• Relaxed mountain atmosphere
• Breakfast and light bites
• Outdoor seating
• A quiet place to meet up or work remotely

It’s especially good in the mornings before the crowds build, and it’s one of those spots that feels equally welcoming whether you’re stopping in for five minutes or staying awhile.

With warmer weather finally sticking around, outdoor coffee spots across the mountain are starting to fill up again — and this is definitely one worth checking out.

Mountain Pick This Week

One thing I’ve been using lately, especially with warmer weather, hikes, yard work, and long days outside, is LMNT electrolytes.

No sugar, easy to throw in a water bottle, and honestly a huge help for staying hydrated up here.

If you want to check them out, here’s my link:

Just figured I’d share since a lot of us are spending more time outside this time of year.

That’s it for this week.

If you enjoyed this, consider forwarding it to a neighbor or friend — it helps keep this growing and supports local businesses and events across the mountain.

And as always, if you’ve got events, news, or community updates, just hit reply.

See you up the hill,
